PostgreSQL Development

PostgreSQL is a powerful open-source relational database. We use its features for complex applications: JSON support, full-text search, custom types, and advanced queries. PostgreSQL is known for reliability, strong concurrency, and handling complex data well.

PostgreSQL Capabilities

JSON & Advanced Types

Native JSON, arrays, ranges, and custom types. Includes:

  • JSONB columns and indexes;
  • Arrays and range types;
  • Custom types.

What you receive: flexible data models without giving up relational integrity.

Full-Text Search

Search built into the database. Includes:

  • Search indexes;
  • Result ranking;
  • Language configuration.

What you receive: search without a separate search service, for many use cases.

Complex Queries

Window functions, CTEs, and advanced SQL. Includes:

  • Window functions;
  • Common table expressions;
  • Reporting queries.

What you receive: reports and analytics computed directly in the database.

Scalability

Large datasets and many concurrent connections. Includes:

  • Indexing and partitioning;
  • Connection pooling;
  • Read replicas.

What you receive: a database that grows with your data and traffic.

Data Integrity

Reliable transactions and constraints. Includes:

  • Transactions and isolation levels;
  • Constraints;
  • Safe schema migrations.

What you receive: consistent data, even with many concurrent writes.

Extensibility

Custom functions, extensions, and procedural languages. Includes:

  • Extensions such as PostGIS;
  • Custom functions;
  • Triggers.

What you receive: database features tailored to your application.

How We Work

A transparent, predictable process from first contact to ongoing support

Roadmap

01 – Discovery

We start by listening. Please call us, send an email, or book a video call. We’d like to hear about the project you want to build or the problem you would like to solve, what you’ve tried so far, and any deadlines or budget constraints. If we need to look at your existing project before recommending a direction, we’ll discuss that next step with you.

  • Initial call to discuss your goals and constraints
  • Review of existing systems or requirements

02 – NDA

An NDA is a document designed to protect your ideas, business plans, and any other sensitive information you can’t discuss with everyone.

While the NDA is listed as the second step in this workflow, it can be signed at any point, even before the discovery call. It doesn’t cost you anything, so please feel free to ask for it whenever necessary.

03 – Proposal

After evaluating your requirements, we send you a proposal. Normally, that’s a Master Service Agreement (MSA) plus a Scope of Work (SoW).

The MSA sets out the general terms of how we work together. Each Statement of Work (SoW) then defines the scope, responsibilities, timeline, and pricing for a specific engagement.

The SoW is where we define the project, timeline, budget, acceptance criteria, and everything else not covered by the MSA.

If you decide to give us more work (and why not, we’re quite good at IT), we don’t sign another MSA. We simply sign a new SoW under the same MSA.

04 – Engagement

Once agreed, we get to work.

The SoW sets out what we’ll deliver, the timeline, and our responsibilities. We’ll keep you updated as the work progresses and discuss any issues that could affect delivery.

05 – Delivery

We deliver the work defined in the Statement of Work (SoW) and review it with you against the agreed acceptance criteria. Depending on the engagement, this may include deploying software, handing over code and documentation, or presenting findings and recommendations.

Software Development projects: full code ownership, no licensing or royalties. 30 days of code warranty included.

06 – Support

Support is optional and mainly applies to software development projects rather than advisory engagements.

If you need help after launch or ongoing software maintenance, we can discuss retainer options. You decide whether you’d like us to stay involved after delivery.

  • Ongoing maintenance and bug fixes as needed
  • Flexible support agreements, no long-term lock-in
  • Direct line back to the team that built it
