Memcached Development

Memcached is a proven, simple caching system. We use Memcached to cache database queries, reduce server load, and improve application response times. Its simplicity makes it a good fit for applications that need a fast, straightforward cache.

Memcached Capabilities

High-Speed Caching

A cache distributed across several servers. Includes:

  • Multi-server cache setup;
  • Key design;
  • Expiry policies.

What you receive: faster responses under heavy read traffic.

Database Query Caching

Cache expensive queries to reduce repeated database work. Includes:

  • Caching expensive queries;
  • Invalidation when data changes;
  • Hit-rate monitoring.

What you receive: fewer repeated queries and lower database load.

Horizontal Scaling

Simple distributed caching. Includes:

  • Adding cache nodes;
  • Consistent hashing;
  • Capacity planning.

What you receive: a cache that grows with your traffic.

Minimal Overhead

A lightweight protocol with low memory overhead. Includes:

  • Memory sizing;
  • Item size tuning;
  • Eviction monitoring.

What you receive: efficient memory use with predictable behavior.

Language Support

Client libraries for major programming languages. Includes:

  • Integration with PHP, Python, Node.js, Go, or Ruby;
  • Framework cache drivers;
  • Migration from other caches.

What you receive: caching added to your existing stack.

Operations & Monitoring

Keeping your cache healthy in production. Includes:

  • Health checks;
  • Alerts on evictions and errors;
  • Planning for node failures.

What you receive: visibility into how your cache performs.

How We Work

A transparent, predictable process from first contact to ongoing support

Roadmap

01 – Discovery

We start by listening. Please call us, send an email, or book a video call. We’d like to hear about the project you want to build or the problem you would like to solve, what you’ve tried so far, and any deadlines or budget constraints. If we need to look at your existing project before recommending a direction, we’ll discuss that next step with you.

  • Initial call to discuss your goals and constraints
  • Review of existing systems or requirements

02 – NDA

An NDA is a document designed to protect your ideas, business plans, and any other sensitive information you can’t discuss with everyone.

While the NDA is listed as the second step in this workflow, it can be signed at any point, even before the discovery call. It doesn’t cost you anything, so please feel free to ask for it whenever necessary.

03 – Proposal

After evaluating your requirements, we send you a proposal. Normally, that’s a Master Service Agreement (MSA) plus a Scope of Work (SoW).

The MSA sets out the general terms of how we work together. Each Statement of Work (SoW) then defines the scope, responsibilities, timeline, and pricing for a specific engagement.

The SoW is where we define the project, timeline, budget, acceptance criteria, and everything else not covered by the MSA.

If you decide to give us more work (and why not, we’re quite good at IT), we don’t sign another MSA. We simply sign a new SoW under the same MSA.

04 – Engagement

Once agreed, we get to work.

The SoW sets out what we’ll deliver, the timeline, and our responsibilities. We’ll keep you updated as the work progresses and discuss any issues that could affect delivery.

05 – Delivery

We deliver the work defined in the Statement of Work (SoW) and review it with you against the agreed acceptance criteria. Depending on the engagement, this may include deploying software, handing over code and documentation, or presenting findings and recommendations.

Software Development projects: full code ownership, no licensing or royalties. 30 days of code warranty included.

06 – Support

Support is optional and mainly applies to software development projects rather than advisory engagements.

If you need help after launch or ongoing software maintenance, we can discuss retainer options. You decide whether you’d like us to stay involved after delivery.

  • Ongoing maintenance and bug fixes as needed
  • Flexible support agreements, no long-term lock-in
  • Direct line back to the team that built it
